Reverse Prayer

by Maddie Dewsbury

His power is in my hands

as I pull your wrists together.

Press palm against palm

and beg for His forgiveness.

I shake the restraint

of His judgment as rope

wraps your visage—

earning your favor

loses His. Trust

your faith to carry

what He could not.

You hold, subservient

to me as I was to Him.

Does this make me

your God

as He was mine?
